Prayer items for each day of the month during January and February 2008

Day Prayer
1 Joan Woodyer working in Mbanza Kongo in North Angola. Give thanks and pray for her work on health care training materials.
2 Children Pray for the new Tuesday club ALF, that children will have fun and come closer in their relationship to God. Pray for children and staff.
3 Hope 08 Give thanks for this initiative as Christians work together; be ready to be involved; pray many will find Jesus
4 Turkey The lives of Christians, particularly pastors are often under threat. The authorities are aware. Pray for safety and the spread of the gospel.
5 Floods famine, homelessness and many deaths cause people to suffer in many countries. Pray for those bringing aid and for Christians trying to share Jesus' love in these situations.
6 Bible Poverty The Bible Society and other organisations focus on making scripture available and Christ known across the world. Give thanks, pray, value your Bible and read it!
7 United States As the presidential election bandwagon gets underway throughout this year, pray that the person of God's choosing may be elected to lead this powerful nation.
8 People Needed There are many opportunities to serve Christ overseas. Give thanks for those who answer the call, pray for all who advise and select, and those who go. We may not go, but we can pray.
9 Orissa Pray for the many long term Christians in this Indian state while at this time there is persecution by Hindus Pray for the authorities who attempt to ensure freedom for all religious groups.
10 Sex Trafficking and Slavery Continue to pray for those working for freedom across the world. May we be ready to help and support the work, and not forget it.
11 WBBC Think of our leadership team and all who work in our church. Think too of people you only know by sight. Give thanks and pray.
12 Afghanistan It is said that the Taliban aim to kidnap foreigners. Pray for the safety of all who give aid and work in this struggling country, including UN forces. Pray for the government too.
13 Kenya - Following recent rioting in this country once perceived to be stable, pray for the government, opposition, tribal leaders, Christians and especially the bereaved and homeless - and the aid agencies.
14 Shoe boxes We've sent our boxes for needy children. Let's s give time to pray for those who have received them, and those who care for them. Give thanks.
15 Mission Give thanks for your experience of church and faith. Pray for the mission of our church, but pray too for small churches lacking personnel as they try to demonstrate the gospel in the community.
16 Visas are necessary for Christian work in all countries. There is a particular problem for those who work in Nepal. Pray that authorities may be welcoming and grant them.
17 Hope 08 Youth shares the vision of YP doing more together in prayer, word and action to see communities changed with the love of Jesus. Give thanks and pray for all our YP.
18 Tibet is struggling for independence from China. There are 3 language groups with a small group of Christians in each, totalling just a few hundred. Give thanks and pray.
19 Christian Unity Give thanks for the closer relationship between Christians. Pray that we may focus on our relationship with Jesus and his love for all, as we share our insights.
20 Education Give thanks for the blessings of education in your own life and pray for all who teach, and those who learn - in UK and abroad.
21 Baghdad Give thanks for the newly formed Baptist Church in this city and pray for the witness and safety of its pastor and members.
22 France Give thanks that there is more interest in religion than for many years and that evangelical churches are growing. Pray that witness may be relevant and that young churches may grow.
23 Baptist Assembly Pray for guidance for those who plan the annual event in May. May it be both a blessing and a spiritual challenge.
24 Angola Pray for Joan and her colleagues in Baptist Medical Care, especially as they travel on difficult roads. Pray for basic medicines and safe water supplies for all.
25 The Barnabus Fund provides aid for persecuted Christians in a variety of places, particularly Muslim countries. Pray.
26 Families Give thanks for your family. Ponder the many families in this country and worldwide for whom life is particularly difficult. Think about the reasons. Pray.
27 Holocaust Memorial Day (Jan'y) Ponder the atrocities, pray for those who still suffer. Pray for all Jews. Pray for leaders with hate in their hearts. May it be replaced by love.
28 Tunisia The government has given permission enabling a BMS community worker to set up livelihood training for single mothers and prostitutes. Give thanks and Pray.
29 South America BMS has new partnership work in the Amazon area. There is need for church planters in deprived areas here and in Peru and Ecuador. Give thanks and pray.
30 Pakistan Pray for trouble free elections and a fair result. Pray for real Christian freedom.
31 Lent Groups happen across the country and here with the other churches in West Bridgford commencing 12th February, Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Give thanks, pray and attend if you can.
